Join us at the 6th International Coaching Conference 14th-16th June 2024 at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK. 

Conference overview

#CRiC2024 will gather the world’s leading academics, policy makers and practitioners as we explore the conference’s driving theme: “imaginative intersections between critical coaching scholarship and practice.”

#CRiC2024 will provide an important platform to not only further our understanding of sports coaching, but also to shape and inform the future doing of the activity, through imaginative approaches to engaging in research and with the development of coaching practitioners.

  • 3 days of activities across a packed conference programme.
  • Keynotes from leading scholars including Professor Lars Tore Ronglan, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and Dr. Anna Stodter, Leeds Beckett University.
  • Up to 45 oral presentations of cutting-edge research from scholars based around the globe.
  • Symposia including the Coaching History Special Interest Group and a panel discussion focussed on funded/partnership research.
  • Poster presentations, infographics, trade fair and networking opportunities.
  • A special presentation from editorial board members at Sports Coaching Review that will demystify the publication process.

Travel

For those arriving by air, Newcastle Airport is connected directly to the city centre (and hotels etc.) via the Metro network. For those arriving by train, Newcastle Central Station is in the heart of the city, close-by to many of the discounted hotel options, with immediate access to the Metro network.

About registration

  • We welcome attendance and participation from all members of the sport coaching and related communities/disciplines and other interested parties.
  • Discounted fees are available to members of CRiC - joining CRiC is the most cost-effective way of attending CRiC2024. Find out more about our joining offers here.
  • Discounted 'early bird' rates are available until 5pm BST on Friday 19 April (see timeline below).

18 March 2024.       Authors notified of decision.

18 March 2024       Early bird registration opens.

19 April 2024         Early bird registration closes.

03 May 2024         Deadline for presenting authors to be registered.

17 May 2024         Provisional conference programme announced.

Cancellations and refunds

If a delegate is unable to attend an event for any reason they may substitute, by arrangement with the event organiser, someone else from the same institute/organisation; contact: edward.hall@northumbria.ac.uk

If a delegate is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer their place to another person, the following refund arrangements apply:

  • CRiC provides a full refund for cancellations received by midnight on Thursday 16th May 2024.
  • No refunds will be granted for cancellations received from Friday 17th May 2024.

Cancellations made by delegates after a failed visa application will be refunded in full upon receipt of evidence of the visa refusal.  Refunds will be made in the following ways:

  • For payments received by credit or debit cards, the same credit/debit card will be refunded.

Event cancellation

  • We will do our best to ensure that the event goes ahead, but we reserve the right to cancel at any time. If we do so (other than for reasons outside of our control), we will refund your event fee in full but will have no further liabilities to you. In particular we will not meet the costs of any pre-booked travel or external accommodation.

Financial support for conference attendance

We regret that we are unable to contribute to the costs of conference registration or attendance (travel, accommodation or any other expenses) for any conference delegate other than the invited keynote and guest speakers.

Delegates who need financial support to attend the conference are advised to look for funding from their own institutions or other sources.
